Arthur Christmas

Synopsis: Santa Claus’ second son, Arthur, is first devastated and second determined to deliver a present to the one child who was missed on Christmas Eve before Christmas morning.

Thoughts: This film was an interesting take on the magic of Christmas. I enjoyed to see the various generations of fathers and sons, all the way back to Ol’ Saint Nick, who have carried the Santa Claus title.

Reasoning: Okay, I must admit that I am EXTREMELY bias to Christmas. I love Christmas and if I could still believe in Santa Claus I would. Okay so I do believe in Santa Claus a little bit, but that’s only because miracles do come true and it doesn’t have to be 34th Street to happen.

Theater Reaction: I saw a late show at 10PM so there weren’t too many kids in the theater, thank goodness. Not that I don’t absolutely love kids, but they aren’t the best to have as movie goer companions. Overall, everyone laughed, giggle, “oohed” -n- “ahhed”  at the right times.

Conclusion: Buy The Ticket.

J. Edgar Review

Synopsis: A bio-pick about J. Edgar as a young 24 year old man working for the government, his rise in power as the director of the FBI, and his personal affair with Clyde Tolson.

Thoughts: As usual Leonardo DiCaprio acted his freakin’ butt off, he completely allowed himself to get lost in his character and he did a excellent job. I hope he gets a few nominations this award season. I also felt that Armie Hammer held his own next DiCaprio, and he might be an actor to keep a look out for.

Reasoning: It was a solid script, that was executed well by the talented Clint Eastwood,  the film had a vision of what he wanted to portray in the film.

Theater Reaction: People laughed during the fight sequence between J. Edgar (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Clyde Tolson (Armie Hammer). Other than that, the theater was quiet, and had normal reaction at appropriate moments.

Conclusion: Buy The Ticket

Immortals

Side Note: It’s pretty late, but there’s always time to be judgmental… I mean to review.

Synopsis: Theseus, a mortal man,  is chosen by Zeus the king of all Greek gods to save mankind when King Hyperon is on a mission to obtain a  weapon that will allow him take over all of mankind.

Thoughts: This was a pretty good film for what it was… a high budget action flick. It had all of the right ingredients e.g. hot girls - Freida Pinto, hot boys - Henry Cavill, violence - several violent action sequences and a ending that promises a sequel.  I can’t say there was anything particularly impressive about this film, but it was definitely entertaining.

Reasoning:  I was told by several people that this film was better than 300, and it definitely was not.

Theater Reactions: Everyone laughed and “oohed” and “ahhed” at the appropiate moments.

Conclusion: Go see it IF you have time, no need to make time though.

Anonymous Review

Side Note: I know this review it pretty dang late, but bare with me people.

Synopsis: The true origins of William Shakespeare’s work is revealed through a plot twisting story about a playwright known as “Anonymous,” following his life from his childhood to his death.

Thoughts: This convoluted plot thickened about every 20 - 30 minutes, and I can’t say that was the best thing for the film. The movie…. at one point… then when they flashed back… Look, if you can’t execute a non-linear plot in a clear and precise manner, then just stick with a linear plot. Go from “Point A” to “Point B” without the flashbacks.

Reasoning:

The finished product wasn’t worth all the twists and turns the plot puts the audience through.

Theater Reaction:

I didn’t hear a single person utter a word in theater. Well, that is unless you don’t count the occasional explanations to each other about what was going.

Conclusion:

Rent it.

The Muppets

…. “oh please don’t” was my initial reaction when I heard they were remaking THE MUPPETS that will be released on Nov 23rd. Now that it’s months later, I still find myself saying “oh please don’t.” To me it just seems like a bad idea.

Yes, it has a talented cast that includes (but is not limited to) Jason Segal, Amy Adams, Mila Kunis and Zac Galifinakis; however I believe this franchise should have been left in the 90s where it belongs.

So my fine people let me close with this, the MUPPET BABIES rock!

Tower Heist Review

Synopsis: A older rich man steals money from people that hired him to invest their money in the stock market. Unfortunately, he steals from the wrong people and they scheme a plan to steal it back.

Thoughts:  Last night at the local AMC Theaters I saw an early screening of TOWER HEIST, and I got to admit that a was a good movie. This film hooks you in the first 15 minutes, where you care about the characters and laugh at their habits as if you actually know them.

Reasoning:

It’s extremely quotable… seriously the movie is pretty quotable.

It’s exciting.

It’s funny.

Theater Reaction: During appropriate parts of TOWER HEIST people… laughed, clapped, and cheered. Yes, the audience actually did all of that at some point or another.

Conclusion: Buy The Ticket.

Mission Social Network Possible

Traditionally, I am a trader to my generation by being only vaguely interested in social media, instead of being absolutely obsessed. I am terrible at Facebook, Flicker, Hi5, Twitter etc. Don’t get me wrong,  I’m not incapable of socializing via clicks, tweets, pokes and tumblrs it’s just that I have more important things to do with my precious time on earth. I text.

But here I am, carpeing this damn diem, and assimilating to my genration by social networking.

So what am I going to do on Tumblr? Well, to be honest I believe (for some reason) that when I speak (or post) people will listen (or read), and hopefully provide thoughtful responses (comments/posts/tweets). I am going to tumblr about TV and Film (mainly film) and occasionally music.
