TOMB RAIDER PREQUEL REBOOT
Although, the Tomb Raider video game was just released yesterday by Crystal Dynamics, GK Films is already feeling the heat to launch a franchise to go along with the successful video game. That being said, Crystal Dynamics and GK Films are moving in a prequel direction with a younger Laura Croft Tomb Raider franchise.
Studio head Darrell Gallagher stated:
“They are working from this new take that we’ve given them, It’s a good partnership. We’re seeing the challenges through the same lens. It was important for both of us to have a cohesive version of the franchise. We didn’t want to see a film version that was a continuation of the old Tomb Raider films.”
Crystal Dynamics Creative Director, Noah Hughes, stated:
“Looking at Lara as a character, she was still going to be an intellectual heroine, a brilliant archeologist, but more athletic, more competent in traversal and puzzle-solving and combat, She really embodies adventure. She’s an expression of all the things that are exciting and fun about going on epic adventures. There’s an X factor that no one can explain but is universal in design. She’s a great character to work with.”!
