THE SEQUEL FOR ‘THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO’ HAS BEEN DELAYED

Back in January, Sony reps revealed that their sequel to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire, is still in the works, with Steven Zaillian writing the script. The studio was planning on a late 2013 release, although that is not the case anymore.

Steven Zaillian is still working on the script, and nothing will move ahead until they have the screenplay locked in. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo director David Fincher remains the top choice to make this follow-up, although no deals are in place yet. Insiders claim that Sony isn’t in any rush to push this sequel along quickly.

Daniel Craig and  Rooney Mara have deals in place to return as Mikael Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salander. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo took in $233 million worldwide, from a $90 million production budget.” — movieweb

SMITHS ARE TAKING OVER HOLLYWOOD!

Alright, this story is extremely old but we’re going to report on it anyhow, because we some how missed this HUGE story. Will Smith has been in talks with Sony Pictures to create a re-make of the classic musical Annie, that will star little miss Whip My Hair, Willow Smith. Will Smith has also put Roc Nation CEO Jay-Z in charge of the musical direction.

THEY’RE GONNA DO JUMANJI PEOPLE!

Sony Pictures is moving forward with its reboot Jumanji, bringing The Amazing Spider-Man  producer Matthew Tolmach on board. He will work alongside original Jumanji producer William Teitler.

We first reported on this story a few weeks ago, when Columbia Pictures president Doug Belgrad offered the following update.

JADEN SMITH, WILL SMITH’S SON, IS UP TO STAR IN ‘BOY NOBODY’

Sony Pictures is looking at Jaden Smith to cast as their lead in their upcoming film Boy Nobody. The same titled book has been adapted from its popular young adult Bourne Identity-esque series for a feature film. 

TAYLOR SWIFT IS IN TALKS TO STAR AS JONI MITCHELL IN ‘GIRLS LIKE US’

GIRLS LIKE US is being adapted from the same titled book by De Bonaventura Pictures and Sony Pictures. The film is about Joni Mitchell, Carly Simon and Carole King. If Swift is locked in as Simon, this will be her first dramatic lead role.
